CONTENT OF ISC MEDICAL'S 1-DAY 'TRAIN THE INTERVIEWERS' COURSE

ISC Medical's interviewing course 'Train the interviewers' is designed for clinicians and managers involved in the recruitment, both on a regular and an ad-hoc basis. It is specifically set up to ensure that those involved in medical recruitment adopt a conscious method of selecting future colleagues, thereby ensuring that only candidates of the right caliber are recruited. The course syllabus was written by a mix of corporate trainers and clinicians, thus ensuring an approach fully tailored to the needs of healthcare professionals and managers.

  • The purpose of CVs and application forms. Which is best and how to extract their full potential.
  • Choosing your selection criteria carefully.
  • Making best use of pre-interview visits.
3 PLANNING FOR THE INTERVIEW
  • Setting clear objectives for the interview.
  • Pre-interview communication.
  • What types of questions should you ask, how to write them and how to ask them.
  • How to identify your candidates' natural communication styles and how their style impacts on their performance.
  • How to prepare for the unexpected.
4 RUNNING AN EFFECTIVE INTERVIEW
  • How to start and end an interview.
  • Dealing with nervous candidates and your own nerves. 
  • Connecting with the candidate.
  • Listening for body language and facial expressions.
  • Listening for tone of voice, pausing and pacing.
  • Listening for specific words. Reading between the lines. Spotting and dealing with the 'bullshit'.
  • Probing and dealing with difficult candidates (vague, superficial, too little information, too few words, avoiding the truth, etc).
