Start of the course Registration for the course starts at 9:00, though candidates who arrive early are welcome too. The course starts at 9:30 exactly. Please note that, in view of the amount of material that needs to be covered and in fairness to all other participants, we cannot delay the start of the course to allow for late arrivals.
Refreshments and lunch Coffee, tea and other refreshments are served throughout the day, and pastries are available before the start of the course for those who have not had breakfast (or are greedy!). A finger buffet is served at 1:00pm, which contains several non-vegetarian and vegetarian items. If you have allergies, please let us know asap.
End of the course The day ends around 5:30pm. Please note that if you are in an enthusiastic and talkative group, the end of the course may be slightly delayed. If you need to leave the course at or before 5:30pm, please let the trainer know in the morning.
Dress code The dress code for the course is smart casual.
The course will take place at the Hilton Garden Inn (previously called Mint Hotel or City Inn) in Birmingham.
The address is: Brindleyplace, Birmingham B1 2HW. It is very central and easy to find. At the bottom of this page, you will find a map which should help you find your way round easily.
The hotel is approximately 10-15 minutes' walk from Birmingham New Street station. Alternatively, it can be reached by car. There is a car part next to the hotel (Fee for the day is approximately £12).
Once inside the hotel, follow the signs to “Interview Skills Consulting or “ISC Medical”
Refreshments and a buffet lunch are provided as part of the course. Please notify us immediately if you have any dietary requirements.
There is no pre-course work for this course, although it would be useful if you could familiarise yourself with the person specification for GPST.
Walking route from Birmingham New Street Station:
On leaving the station, take the escalators to the Palisades Shopping Centre, turn left and follow the shops round, looking out for Carphone Warehouse and HMV. Follow the ramp down and you are now on New Street. When you see the HSBC bank, turn left follow straight up New Street until you come to Victoria Square. Follow the steps up past the Museum and Art Gallery, follow it round to the Central Library, go through the small arcade and keep going straight. You will see the Birmingham Rep and Symphony Hall. Go through the Symphony Hall. Once you are through you will come to some steps. Go up the steps until you see the Slug and Lettuce, turn right and keep going straight. You will soon arrive to Brindleypllace. The hotel is at the top of Brindley Place.
